At the start of Thursday, the cadets had earned themselves a
well deserved extra hour of sleep as well as no morning PT.
After going to chow, the basics came back to the barracks to
prepare themselves for a day they would never forget. The
cadets were transported over to the Timmerman Center for a
briefing of today’s activities. There were speeches and
motivational videos which rallied the morale of the cadets.
Upon the completion of the briefing the cadets were then
transported to the range which was a restricted area in New
Jersey. The first scenario that the cadets saw were the
soldiers assaulting the machine gun bunkers. The soldiers
had to traverse the sandy, rugged terrain avoiding machine
gun fire while reaching their objective. The cadets then
moved onto to lunch which was MREs again and was eaten at
the Forward Operating Base. Tours were given of the facility
after the cadets had finished eating. They were put through
different medical emergency scenarios throughout the tour.
Next, the cadets got a look at a realistic detainee camp. No
photography was allowed at both the detainee camp and the
Forward Operating Base. The last tour was of the Iraqi mock
village of Belaad. Here, the soldiers went through mission
scenarios involving events that could occur while on
deployment in Iraq. |
